Can I leave a list of extras with my will?
You can do this if you arranged for this in your Will. You can state in your Will that your executor is to distribute your personal belongings according to a separate list that you will keep with your Will although you mustn’t attach the list to your Will. You can then make changes to your ‘gift list’ at any time thereafter without the need to change your Will.
We include by default clauses that instruct the executor to look for a letter of wishes and distribute accordingly. In our humble opinion it is an excellent method of making your will robust across time allowing for changes to be made without paying for amendments. Mind you our clients who hold their wills with our storage service can amend their wills as often as they wish free of charge.
